Attorney Jeffrey Breit Receives Prestigious Invitation to Join the Inner Circle of Advocates
We are excited to share that Jeffrey Breit, founding partner of Breit Biniazan, was recently invited to join The Inner Circle of Advocates. Founded in 1972, the Inner Circle has been a veritable who’s who of talented courtroom litigators including the late Johnnie Cochran, Scotty Baldwin, Philip Corboy, Joe Jamail, Moe Levine and Ron Motley. This exclusive group, limited to only 100 members from across the United States, is the top honor for trial litigators.
The mission of The Inner Circle of Advocates is to promote the highest standards of courtroom competence and allow the country’s most talented litigators to converse with and learn from each other. Given these high standards, Jeffrey Breit is a natural choice to join this exclusive organization. With a legal career that has spanned decades, Jeffrey has made a name for himself by representing injured plaintiffs in some of the most complex and tragic personal injury cases.
After the April 2010 BP/Deepwater Horizon explosion—one of the biggest economic losses in history, and the U.S.’s largest environmental disaster to date—Jeffrey was part of a select group of only 15 attorneys appointed by the court to a plaintiff steering committee. This became the largest environmental trial in history resulting in over $40 billion in payouts by BP, Haliburton and others for their negligence.
Since 2010, Jeffrey has been involved in litigation nationwide involving Chinese drywall Taishan Gypsum Co. In 2019, the company settled all United States cases, including Virginia’s, in a settlement of $248 million. More recently, after the tragic Virginia Beach shooting on May 31, 2019, Jeffrey served as the manager of the Virginia Beach tragedy fund where he distributed an excess of $4 million to victims after personally meeting with each family to understand individual circumstances and needs.
What’s more, with support from the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Jeffrey has also used his influence to lobby Virginia’s General Assembly for a more plaintiff-focused legal landscape. Jeffrey urged the General Assembly to increase the cap on medical malpractice damages to better compensate those who have been injured through others negligence.
While Jeffrey has accomplished so much in his career, being invited to join The Inner Circle of Advocates is an honor that he has dreamed of achieving since he started practicing law. Friend and fellow Inner Circle member, Mark Lanier, stated, “It is great to have Jeffrey take his proper place in the Inner Circle of Advocates. Jeffrey is the paradigm of what a lawyer should be.”
Known as being tough, fair, hardworking, and honest, Jeffrey has focused his career on helping improve the reputation of trial attorneys who represent injured plaintiffs, as well as providing hope and restoration for the plaintiffs themselves. We are proud to have Jeffrey as a partner at Breit Biniazan and congratulate him on this well-deserved honor!
“The Inner Circle Members take great pride in the spirit of cooperation that permeates their meetings, a spirit they attribute to the fact that they are equally lustrous and to the careful screening of candidates designed to weed out showboats and self-promoters.”
